This code is highly deprecated, LoonCAFE is being developed in preference to LoonTracker so as to await certain finalizations.

Life got in the way(obviously) of getting any more work done since I last posted, and it is still getting in the way. When I can afford a new body, I'll get right back into serious coding...

Yes...

Yes, yes, yes,... I know... I know...

My LView serves the same purpose to LControls as BWindows does to BViews. I simply needed another layer of flexibility and control.

With the app_server mucking up things before I could get to them, I needed to either dig-in-and-down the stack, or just recreate something like it :-) I did the latter.

When Haiku is out, this may or may not be duplicable with simple app_server changes (a new BView flag, maybe B_HOLLOW_VIEW or something :-)), except so long as there is a hard limit on view counts (minor prob), or worse, more memory / resource overhead, there will always be a time when this code just seems to fit the purpose.

I like to use LControls as layers to cause some really neat effects... I am hoping to get a demo app up here today.

LoonTracker:
This is a TOTAL re-write. I am not even refrencing the OpenTracker code at this point. I will do that when I am ready to start worrying about public Tracker API (Background.h (implemented), TrackerAddOn.h (no), FindPanel.h(framework complete and src/binary-compatible). Lots of things have to happen before I even worry about adding features beyond the basic workset.

I will release a lot of test versions which will not be meant to replace Tracker, but will enable bug testing and usability testing by users and developers alike. LoonTracker will be completely OpenSource (freeware, 100%) once I have the basic design in my head in place. This will probably happen the first time I call something 0.1.0 alpha, since I am at 0.0.4devel :-)

0.1.0 alpha should be acheivable in another three-weeks to a month.

The planned feature set of 0.1.0 is most of the eature set from OpenTracker in its current stable version, however with far less memory usage, and a nice layered design which will make adding new features a breeze in comparison to doing the same on OpenTracker.

0.1.0 Will also implement a different AddOn structure, but will utilize one method or another to ensure support for existing add-ons. At the same time, a new type of replicant will be made available (it is already written and working, mostly) which will allow MUCH tighter integration with its host environment. Changes such as font, translucency levels, scaling, and more will occur at the replicant level due to user settings changes in the host.

Works well and looks cool, at least :-)

LoonCraz, are you aware you basically reimplemented the communication framework which is already existing in the be api, just completely client side ?

I wait for it.. I hope it is based on more high-tech tracker beta 7c instead of backwards-thinking opentracker. I like some features of NaviTracker but tracker beta7c seems to me like it has potential if worked on properly.
