autotrace is provided in this pkg, so you don't have to download source and compile it.
@edmundf
could be only converted the following file formats:
TGA, PBM, PNM, PGM, PPM or BMP
if you have some jpegs or pngs you have to convert them to bitmaps.

there is an error in the pkg file; the app is expanded in /boot/home/config/add-ons/, but it should be in /boot/home/config/add-ons/Tracker/; if you have already installed it, you have just to open the first path provided, and move the Betrace binary to the Tracker sub-directory.
If you want to edit autotrace settings, you have to open the app without passing files; you should open the app through a symlink in the Be menu, but this pkg is zeta specific, so the binary is linked to /boot/home/config/ZetaMenu; once you have moved the app to the correct path, configure Be menu from deskbar and make a link to this app.
An unsolved mystery: how the developer could make the license text gray (and unreadable) ?

Hi,
I am no BeOS guru and I was able to install it. This app needs a free open source program to work, do nto remember the name but its explained in a txt, and the other program is on BeShare (it was arttrace or something like that, take a look at the readme). You have to unzip this second program and follow the instructions included to install it. Go to the terminal to the place where you unzip it and paste the 3 commands needed (compile, make clean and another one). Once this is done and Betrace install, the Betrace stuff appears in the menu, but you will not see it before. All this is really easy to do, do not have any idea about programming and could install it just by copying and pasting the commands. In anycase, you can use Paintbrush to make svg icons, althugh wityh so many options I never know what to do.

Can someone tell me what I can do with this
program? I like to make a vector picture but
I have no idea where to start.
I am using BeOS MAX and I don't see any add-on on the right click or anything. After installing BeTrace I found a folder /... ZetaMenu... which cannot be good
because I have no Zeta.
Suggestions please.

I needed something as simple as this to make new icons for my Zeta, becaue I do not know how to handle other tools. I made my frist compilatrion ever of Autotrace the other night following the commands on the text file, then installed this. It works perfect.

Yes, autotrace works really well and if you read the description it says that BeTrace uses autotrace, maybe i haven't explained well in the description but what BeTrace really is a GUI for autotrace, you change the settings by the GUI and then apply to files with Tracker Addon.

Translator Add-on can only be used with program using Translator Add-on like a image program (Wonderbrush)or a image convert pogram (think there are one in Zeta)
If this is to be used in Tracker then some one need to write one (if there are no tracker Add-on using image converter that uses Translater)

I wonder if a Translator addon would be more appropriate... like gocr, or the addon I wrote based on Sanity for scanning :)
