yeah and then it can have prefs like what to use as default, and maybe a status bar, time elapsed, time remain, total amnt hashed like a history of how many MB of files you have done for interests sake.

yes it can probably be made into a tracker addon pretty easily. That's why the source is provided. This was just a verification of the algorithm that it works and gives the proper hash result as in other OS' sha2sum.
Rather than making individual addons and cluttering up the "Addons" menu, a united "Hash" addon that allows the user to choose between MD5, SHA-256, SHA-512 etc. would be a better idea.

Sure, but I think that more effort could be put into this app, and made into an add-on. Take HashBrown for example. This app should then be called SHAshBrown then, and made into tracker add-on.
