The binkjet driver is a good alternative to this. There is a free demo, IIRC. Available here at bebits :

The driver is not to easy to install (after you find out where it's suppose to go by clicking on one of the links where you downloaded it from)
The driver also doesn't empty out the printer buffer leaving data in the printer.
