Without offending the authors of other file browsers, I must say that DogWhistle is quite possibly the *best* tree-view alternative. Too lofty a praise for such a simple little program? Here's a few good reasons:
With the Tracker now being open, it's quite likely that it will mature to a point that might render some of the fully dedicated file browsers unnecessary. As of 3/29/01, OT now has single window browsing and a "browser" like address bar -- it's getting there. Hence, in the meantime, it makes a lot of sense to have a stand alone utility that contains a tree which simply launches Tracker instances.
This is great design theory!
